Ember of the Old Realm

Ember of the Old Realm is a proper little RPG that respects your time. Battles are turn-based and clean, the party members all have their own voice, and the story about a fading magical world actually made me want to read the dialogue instead of skipping it.

Combat is where it shines. You plan turns around elemental weaknesses and stamina, and tough fights reward you for paying attention rather than grinding. There's enough depth to tinker with builds without drowning you in menus.

It asks for a bit of commitment, so it's not a bus-stop game. But set aside half an hour and it draws you right in. The writing has genuine heart to it.
